New Zealand Army
The New Zealand Army has had pilots since the end of World War 2, these pilot generally being Artillery Officers and operated as Air Observation Post (AOP) pilots. In 1960 the New Zealand Army Aviation Corps (NZAAC) was created and the opportunity to become a NZAAC pilot was opened up to all officers. The NZAAC was disbanded in 1995 and Army pilots were transferred to the RNZAF
The NZ Army has other personnel trained to carry out airborne tasks. These are mainly Air Despatches, though some personnel are trained to Parachute Jump Instructor (PJI) standard.
